ANWAR ROBINSON, MSEd. is presently living his best life with an impressive range of academic achievements, education advocacy, public service, and international vocal concert performances. Anwar is a summa cum laude graduate and holds a Master of Science in Education with Distinction. His career accomplishments include award winning music and performing artist, private school educator, front singer of a touring orchestra, Creative Arts Director, Master of Voice Pedagogy and Classical Piano, and Vocal Coach to the stars. While the thunderous applause of Anwar's principal role of Tom Collins in the touring company of RENT is still fresh in our minds, Anwar's powerful vocal range and masterful fusion of Jazz, Soul, and Gospel will always be notably recognized for achieving a Top Finalist position on the world renowned televised competition AMERICAN IDOL. Anwar is currently the Dean of Curriculum & Global Arts Education for a music and performing arts conservatory in New York City, as well as an independent consultant for a number of schools in which he develops e-Learning platforms, diversity and inclusion training, and conducts professional development workshops for experienced educators to provide them proven tools to achieve higher students' academic performance. Anwar most recently completed his tenure as Director of Programs at Education Through Music, an organization that partners with under-resourced schools to provide music education as a core subject for all students. Anwar's calling, passion and advocacy for education and academic equality has been highlighted in the New York Times, Broadway Playbill, and several major television news networks in which he appeared as a guest commentator to bring awareness and resources to public schools. Anwar also was the Artistic Music Director at The United Palace of Spiritual Arts, Inc. (formerly known as United Christian Evangelistic Association). Anwar is a former member of the Board of Directors of United Palace of Cultural Arts, Inc. Anwar served four years as a Music Educator and Director of Creative Arts at The IDEAL School of Manhattan, is a certified cohort member of NYSAIS (New York State Association of Independent Schools) and also has an additional decade of teaching experience in the public school system. Anwar has produced youth enrichment programs for Charter Schools and forged a résumé of working relationships with Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Harlem School of Arts, Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, and National Dance Institute. Anwar also has been an inspirational speaker, musician, and vocalist at many renowned faith-based institutions including The Marble Collegiate Church, and Abyssinian Baptist Church. In honor and continuation of Black History, Anwar is presently working with the award winning theater producer, visionary and playwright Ms. Vy Higginsen (Mama I Want To Sing) and serves as the Music Director for her latest creation "Harlem Sings Jazz," a tribute to our legends and pioneering artists of Jazz — Presented by Mama Foundation for the Arts, at Harlem’s historic Minton’s Playhouse. Anwar is humbled to pay tribute and work directly with many greats who he envisioned and looked up to during his youth, and is currently realizing the manifestation of what he calls the Intentional Universe Alignment of his journey, gifts, preparation and experiences. Anwar's brand of music ministry and professional career in entertainment fully launched shortly after accomplishing his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education & Voice at Westminster Choir College | Rider University. Anwar was once a member of a short-lived R&B group that signed with Arista Records founder and industry legend Clive Davis. Anwar then built the groundwork to transition into a successful indie solo recording artist, wrote and released the contemporary inspirational song titled "CHOSEN", landed the principal role of Tom Collins in the touring company of RENT, starred as Jesus in GODSPELL, cast in the workshop of E. Lynn Harris' Invisible Life Music with mentors Nick Ashford & Valerie Simpson, and garnered national exposure that lead to working with countless Pop, R&B and Broadway artists including Patti Labelle, Carole Bayer Sager, Kenny Babyface Edmonds, Lillias White, The Clark Sisters, Kelly Price, Peggi Blu, Carrie Underwood, and more.
